ECCENTRIC O FOR SKY ONE - GOT TO DANCE

I'm pretty convinced this year is set to be one of my favs of all!! EO will be in yurrr facees, especially around Summer time (with a smile ofcourse). As you may have heard & seeeeeeeeen.....I was recently commisioned by SKY ONE to customise outfits for the first Live Show of Got To Dance. The producers and stylist contacted me & requested customised outfits for Akai's special guest performance and Chris & Wes's duo. Happy Times. A massive shout out to the lovely Gemma Cairney (Radio 1xtra) who discussed my customs on Mondays show. The fashion stylist and broadcaster said she "Loved it, loved it, loved it!". Thank you Gemma :) - Tune in to Radio 1xtra to catch her show everyday 1 - 4pm!

Eccentric O for UNIQLO UT GRAND PRIX! TOP 50!

OOOOOOOOK i'm in a very delighted state at present as i just found out...........................................ready....... From over 6000 international design entries (still counting) , ECCENTRIC O HAS BEEN SHORTLISTED IN THE TOP 50 FOR UNIQLO'S UT GRAND PRIX 2011! :D http://ut.uniqlo.com/utgp/?sort=color SPREADING POSITIVE VIBES HAVE BEGUN! Top 20 designs will be announced in 2011 Spring. The Top 20 finalist will have their designs sold world wide in all Uniqlo stores. Fingers crossed this is only the beginning!! And to think I nearly went cinema as oppose to staying home and developing my concept.:

About my 'Top 50' design :D:

Peace Begins With A Smile” (Mother Teresa) is one of my favourite quotes of all
time! I thought this would be an ideal opportunity to incorporate the quote as it coincides perfectly with the theme, seeing as Mickey Mouse’s characteristics are of a
loving nature and is always associated with a smile. I hand drew the typography in the form of Mickey’s face shape to emphasise the relationship between the quote and
Mickey’s iconic facial expression. I chose to draw retro like typography and used bold colours to reflect visual aspects of that used in the hippie era in order to aid the communication of the message. I also wanted to fuse a sense of playfulness with the design on Mickey’s part, by having him paint on the design himself adding to the power of this message.

E-O Custom Features on Big Screen 2011!

The gd news just keeps rolling in!!! Not only has my no.2 outfit customised for Akai been featured in Celebrity Dance 4 Life campaign (youtube vid below) but I’ve just got confirmation that it’s going to hit the big screen in 2011 as Akai’s been invited to star in Horrid Henry 3D, set to release next summer! The directors (also directors of Street Dance 3D) luv’d the outfit and have said it looks ‘Amazing in 3D’! Well.... rather pleased with that outcome :D Congrats to Akai on getting the part! Fun times have begun!

EO - Children In Need Customised Outfit - Akai

Lovely times..just been hit up again to customise yet another outfit for Akai - this time for an even greater cause - Children In Need!!! The concept I developed for this jumpstui focused on Akai's talent and my interpretation of his drive . I find the kid to be a robot as every time I see him perform he comes back with an innovative routine and executes it miles better than the last. For this reason am playing on the notion of mechanical insides. The nuts & bolts of his talent. I selected certain areas of the body to reveal the freehand detailed mechanisms. Also to compliment the theme of Children in Need, Pugsy the bear and colour was needed. I designed an additional design on the back for its representation for the charity. Below is the final piece:

Hellooo again weblings. Great news...Akai's ppl have requested another customised outfit for his performance at Dance Aid Charity Show. This time I wanted to limit the application of colour & create a contrast against the first outfit i had customised. I was given a red suit to work with. I set myself a challenge to use one colour whilst attaining similar levels of "DOPENESS" as the first one. My intentions for this outfit was to create a more elegant feel with inspiration taken from my mothers traditional pakistani sarhi's. I thought i'd use my vocabulary of arabesque intricate designs to manipulate the inspiration into a more modern eastern suit. I instantly thought the colour Gold would be able to pull off the vision.

OK so my intentions were to upload my top customs & designs done over the past few months....BUT because of Uni work & my 'hustle' time :), time for me is restricted :(. Customised Top for Dance Artist Kymberlee Jay - I thought I'd play on her favourite saying that is 'Got Funk?' by converting the design into a Comic like/Pop Art imagery to intensify humour and the serious under tone of her ethos.

Zara Dress Eccentric-O-ized

I was approached by the PR & Communications Executive at Space NK who wanted Eccentric O’s creative dust sprinkled over a black dress bought from Zara. :) Her requests were to create a ‘warm dreamy’ design that would be eligible for casual wear but also nights out. This would be the first time I’d be working on a dress so my intentions were to inject a wow factor whilst trying alternative techniques that I previously hadn’t done. Below are the steps I took to create the art work

Created custom butterfly shapes & designs, which I scalpelled and positioned accordingly. These would then act as negative stencils.

...Used the foundation paint to create a sunset themed background, excluding the sun as the butterflies would be the focal point of the design. Following the foundation came the blending of warm colours to create soothing scenery.

Removing the customised stencils........

Cleaned up blending, emphasised contrast and added Swarovski rhinestones to lift the butterfly off the dress. Done!

Topshop Vest Customised

A fashion blogger wanted to test my skills by giving me a plain vest from Topshop and a theme of buildings to work with. I wanted to avoid modern skylines imagery and so went for a traditional chinese stylo building that I improvised with. This is what i came out with ......fun times ;)

Customised Outfit – Sky One’s Got to Dance Winner – Akai

So as it's my first post I thought it would be ideal to talk about my favourite piece of work done recently. 2 weeks ago or so I was asked to design and customise a boiler suit for Sky one’s got to dance winner – Akai. Now if you haven’t seen this kid in action, he’s pretty much like a robot who’s morphed into a human’s skin. I mean c’mon the dude is only 11! Since winning the show and showcasing his talent he’s already performed all over the UK and is in high demand within the industry. Check him out in the Ministry Of Sounds Tv Ad:

The Design:
When asked to work on a brief, the client usually has a particular concept in mind that they want me to brainstorm, develop and bring to life. This time around I was asked to “do what I do” as they liked my art style (thank you Jenny and Rico), thus giving me the freedom to inject my creative flare from scratch, which best represents my work. When given the freedom of this magnitude, I tend to improvise and source designs straight from the right side of my brain, which in turn is how new styles are generated; Most of the time being a result of an accident. Once started, I found myself spraying rythmatic contour lines and focusing on the curvilinear flow for the foundations of shapes. Much of the art came from stored intricate designs in my head that is mostly inspired by Art Nouveau movement and works of arabesque art. I incorporated my own contemporary twist to the traditional patterns hoping to unify this stylistic coherence and develop something new as oppose to the stereotypical graffiti styles usually associated with street dance. Gd times 

Hello weblings!
After months of filling my sketchbook with artwork, notes and random daily thoughts, I thought it was time to create my official blog. Yes Lucky you! I’ll be extrapolating ideas and visuals from my brain (maybe from other sources to) and injecting it through interconnected networks to fill this page with colour, love and positivity. Will also let you know ‘what be apnin’ in my creative world regarding personal projects, creative opportunities, how to’s and my journey to my ultimate destination (world domination mwahahahah) I joke ofcourse....for now ;).
